About Us

Children’s Community Tameside is a long-term, community-led approach to helping children and young people thrive.

Our Story

Children’s Community Tameside began with support from Save the Children UK, bringing national learning about child poverty into a local context.

Rooted in the Smallshaw and Hurst area, the work now reaches across Tameside, using deep local insight and wider learning to help communities and services better support children and families.

Over time, this has grown into a shared approach, built with families, communities and partners working together.

What is Children’s Community?

Children’s Community isn’t a service or a programme.

It’s a long-term way of working that strengthens the relationships, confidence and support around children and young people.

Children don’t grow up in services. They grow up in families, streets, schools and relationships. That’s why we focus on the people and systems around the child, bringing them together so support feels more connected, accessible and shaped by real experience.

No single organisation can solve the challenges children face on its own

By working alongside communities and connecting people and organisations, we help create stronger, more coordinated support around children. Over time, this leads to better experiences for families and more sustainable change.

Our Partners
