Help Shape the Future for Children and Families in Tameside

This is an exciting time to join Children’s Community Tameside.

Having successfully transitioned to an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), we are entering a new chapter of growth, influence and impact. Rooted in our communities and continuing to work alongside national partners, including Save the Children, we are building a movement that puts children, young people and families at the heart of creating lasting change.

We are looking for passionate and committed Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of our organisation.

Why Become a Trustee?

As a Trustee, you’ll play a vital role in helping us tackle child poverty, strengthen communities and improve outcomes for children and families across Tameside.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Help influence meaningful change for local children and families.
  • Shape the strategic direction of a growing and ambitious charity.
  • Work alongside an experienced and passionate Board and leadership team.
  • Develop your own skills in governance, leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Be part of a nationally recognised approach to community-led systems change.

Who Are We?

Children’s Community – Tameside works alongside children, young people, parents, schools, services and communities to create the conditions in which children can thrive.

We believe that it takes a village to raise a child. By bringing together families, education, health, housing, community organisations and local leaders, we help create joined-up support that strengthens communities and improves children’s life chances.

Everything we do is shaped by lived experience, ensuring that the voices of children, young people and parents influence decisions and drive change.

We’re Particularly Interested in Hearing From People With Experience In:

  • Education and schools
  • Fundraising and income generation
  • Charity leadership
  • Youth services
  • Governance and legal expertise
  • Health and wellbeing

You do not need previous Trustee experience. We welcome applications from people who share our values and want to make a difference.

What Is The Commitment?

Trustees typically commit around 4–6 hours per month, including:

  • Quarterly Board meetings
  • Occasional strategic workshops
  • Supporting specific projects or areas of expertise

We are committed to ensuring our Board reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences.

Why Now?

As an independent CIO, Children’s Community – Tameside is entering an exciting period of development. We are strengthening our local influence, growing partnerships across Greater Manchester, expanding our impact and helping shape conversations about how communities can work together to improve outcomes for children and families.

This is a unique opportunity to join us at a pivotal moment and help build something that will benefit generations to come.

Interested?

If you believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive and want to use your skills to make a lasting difference, we’d love to hear from you. Express your interest via email to [email protected] by Friday 26th of June.
